Introduction
Animoca Brands, a prominent player in the digital entertainment and crypto space, has recently launched its official coin, MOCA. This article covers everything you need to know about MOCA. So, let's get straight into it.
What is Mocaverse?
Mocaverse (MOCA) is an innovative project by Animoca Brands designed to bring together its extensive portfolio of Web3 projects, subsidiaries, partners, and the broader community through a unique NFT collection. The collection, known as Mocas, comprises 8,888 NFT characters divided into five tribes: Dreamers, Builders, Angels, Connectors, and Neo-Capitalists. Each tribe symbolizes a distinct persona within the Web3 community.
Background and History of Mocaverse
Animoca Brands has been a key player in the Web3 and blockchain space, with a history of successful projects and investments in the decentralized technology sector. The concept of Mocaverse was introduced back in December 2022, with the official NFT collection launched in 2023. The aim was to create a synergistic community within Animoca Brands' ecosystem, facilitating connections between various stakeholders, including investors, partners, and team members.
Mocas serves as a membership pass, granting holders access to multiple benefits across four main realms: learning, playing, building, and contributing to social causes. With over 380 projects under its umbrella, Animoca Brands leverages Mocaverse to unite its diverse initiatives, promoting cross-project interactions and shared growth.
Token Launch & Key Milestones
Conducted on MocaList, a co-branded token launchpad developed in collaboration with CoinList, the MOCA token launch saw overwhelming participation. The pre-deposited funds amounted to $29.3 million, a 12-times oversubscription compared to the available lots. The sale started on April 25, 2024, and surpassed its $5 million target within six hours, making it the fastest token launch on CoinList in 2024.
A total of 126,984,127 MOCA coins were allocated for the launch at a price of $0.03938 each, representing 1.5% of the total token supply. The launch attracted nearly 17,000 unique participants from 123 countries, highlighting the global appeal and strong community support for the project and the brand at large.
Apart from that, Animoca Brands, despite the declining interest of investors around the metaverse, had also successfully raised $20 million as an initial investment back in 2023 to officially launch its native Web3 project, Mocaverse. Today, the key investment institutions behind the project include OKX Ventures, Polygon Ventures, Foresight Ventures, and Dapper Labs.
Tokenomics
The total supply of MOCA coins is 8.89 billion. From this, the self-reported circulating supply in the market is almost 1.14 billion coins, which makes 12.8% of the total supply. This represents the number of coins that are currently tradable in the market.
The Price Change of MOCA on CoinEx
As of June 15, MOCA coins trade at a price of roughly $0.11, with a 24-hour trading volume touching $20.43K in USDT on CoinEx alone. With 12.8% of its supply currently available in the market, MOCA's circulating market cap stands at more than $126.6 million at the press time.
